I'm just so 'over-the-moon' excited for my dear friend Chad Kelly who has been selected to participate in the M+D+F 2009 Exhibition of Innovative Furniture by Emerging Designers in the Austin Area, presented by fine modern furniture purveyors, Design Within Reach (Austin studio). This is so amazing because Chad is basically a self-taught carpenter. But when you have natural talent combined with passion for your craft, it all comes together, right? His lamp design below (submitted for M+D+F) is all original. Isn't it fabulous?! I totally want one of my own. DWR Presents: M+D+F Sunday, May 3, 5-7pm
M+D+F 2009 is a juried exhibition of innovative furniture by emerging designers in the Austin area. Organized by the DWR Austin Studio, M+D+F provides an opportunity for peer, public and professional recognition for up-and-coming designers and firms. Judges for M+D+F 2009 are hotelier Liz Lambert, Jack Sanders, founder of Design Build Adventure, interior designer Tracey Overbeck Stead and Steve Ross, professor of architecture at University of Texas and founder of Design Build Alliance. The judges will award prizes for best of show, best sustainable design and individual awards for lighting and furniture. The winning entries will be presented at the Austin Studio on May 3.
